Tony Momoh is a very kind man. I pray God grant him eternal rest and forgive his sins.
I testify of his goodness. In my 5th year in medical school, I went through a time of tremendous financial challenges and at a time, I took off from school in Benin to see him in Lagos as he was then the President of Etsako Club 81. When I arrived his office at Daily Times where he was the General Manager, he not in the office, but his Secretary told me to wait. I finally got to see him after a long wait on his return to his office from factory inspection. I had no appointment to see him, yet he made time for me.
I then narrated to him my challenges and without interrogations, he brought his wallet and he gave me the whole amount, I needed. And then separately he gave me the transport money to take me back to Benin.
The most amazing thing for me, was that every effort I made after my graduation to see him and say “thank you”. He turned down! He didn’t want me to thank him!
I finally caught up with him in Abuja in 2015 at Eagles square during the inauguration of PMB as President of the FRN, about 30 years after the event!
I told him I must visit him before I leave Abuja and I got to spend an entire afternoon with him reminding of him his kindness. He saw that as the normal thing to do and didn’t see anything special about his act of such great kindness.
And yet I could have been a fraudster!!!
I’ll miss the thought of not sharing time with him when in Abuja.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
