RACHEL TABUNO ONIGA: TIME TO SAY GOODBYE
It usually take me a while to adjust to the reality of the death of a loved one. My good sister was infectiously affectionate. No surprise that I needed to wait till her burial rights to say Goodbye.
She was at my Presidential launch in Abuja in 2019. She longed for a New Nigeria seriously, she came with members of her constituency, veteran actors and actresses. I have felt at home since, with these special creative club, since my Step Dad’s cousin, Adeyemi Afolayan (Adelove) visited with us in New-Bussa many times in the late 70’s with his travelling team.
Rachael was a hue of the veteran actors, inspired by the best creative tradition. She connected with the travails of her country, no wonder she was passionate for change.
Rachael, a multiple award winning actress hailed from Delta State, she was born on 23 May 1957 in Ebute-Metta, Lagos State. She began her acting career in 1993. Over the years, she has featured in notable Nigerian films. Sadly, she died on July 30, 2021.
Many will miss her big smile; she was beautiful inside out. Good night dear sister!
