Omoluabi Progressive Movement has condemned i the latest increment in Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from 148.50 per litre to 151.56 per litre without recourse to the “suffering masses.” According to the group, increase is “mindless, wicked, pain inflicting, injurious and therefore unacceptable.”
It added that it is “more worrisome that a popularly democratically elected government that promised last July to lift about 100 million Nigerians from poverty, succumbed in a more dramatic theatrics to IMF conditionalities and mindful of the crushing poverty exacerbated by the covid-19 Pandemic shows that Buhari and his handlers are disconnected from the citizens of the nation Nigeria.
“Poverty is prevalent in the land coupled with this is the fact that over 200 million Nigerians are dependent on Private road travels as there are no public mass transit. The attendant effect will be higher cost of transportation and this will in turn lead to inflation on all sectors of the economy. The farmers, the informal sectors and all artisans might be thrown out of work.”
The Omoluabi group viewed this as an affront on the Nigerian people and call on the Buhari administration to reverse itself and return to the path of Sanity. “For it is the workers and downtrodden citizens that will bear the brunt of the increase as they are already at the edge. Nigerians are ANGRY and HUNGRY. A reversal to status quo is requested or the government will face the wrath of Hungry and Angry citizens,” it said
The group therefore call on all “well-meaning Nigerians, the labour world, human rights activists, students, parents, marketers and all those who care, to openly rise against this callous decision and force the government to reverse to the path of honour capable of giving Nigerians a better living condition.”
