The lingering agony over unending fuel and Naira scarcity boiled over on Wednesday in Oyo, Ondo, Kwara, Delta and Edo States as angry bank customers marched on the streets and barricaded major roads with bonfires.
This is coming on day that the apex court adjourned hearing on the suit brought by three States against the Naira re-design policy to Wednesday February 22.
Some bank buildings were also burnt, especially in Warri, Delta State. Yesterday, banks customers also went on rampage in Sango-Ota, Ogun State after they could not get access to their banks
The protest also took another dimension in Edo State as residents of Benin trooped out to protest against Governor Godwin Obaseki for the suit the State Government filed in Abuja in support of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The protesters are wondering why the State Government would be supporting the CBN despite the hardships in the State over scarcity of the new naira notes and the refusal of banks to accept the old notes.
