In a decisive move to uphold environmental standards and promote public health, the Lagos State Government has sealed several markets in the Ketu and Mile 12 areas for persistent environmental violations.
The enforcement operation, carried out overnight, targeted illegal waste disposal practices that contravene the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017. Offenders were found to be dumping refuse indiscriminately on roads, medians, and highways, endangering both residents and the environment.
Authorities emphasized that the clampdown is part of a broader commitment to restoring order and cleanliness to public spaces. Stakeholders in the affected markets have been urged to adopt proper waste management practices moving forward.
