A middle-aged woman has been knocked down by a “hit-and-run” commuter bus driving against traffic at Vulcaniser Bus Stop, Ifo, Ogun State, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
Recall that few days ago, two people were killed around Pakoto in the same axis, while the vehicle was dodging the bad section of the road.
The woman whose identity is unknown, alighted from a bus and was crossing to the other side inward Ifo, when the bus, trying to avoid the other side of the road dotted with craters and potholes rammed into the woman and fled the scene.
Though she has been rushed to the hospital for treatment, but sources revealed that the woman was badly injured and may not survive the accident. As at 10:58am, her blood stain was still visible at the middle of the road.
Eyewitnesses, who blamed the Federal Government for the deplorable state of the road, said the accident is avoidable.
“While we are not applauding the commuter bus for driving against traffice that led to the accident, we’ll need to blame government both the federal and state for leaving the road to degenerate to this level.
Many innocent lives have been lost due to the state of the road and many may still die if urgent attention is not paid to this road.
“This is a clarion call to Governor Dapo Abiodun, to provide palliative to this road as promised during his pre-election tour of the area. Save our lives in Ifo.”
