The State Screening and Verification Committee, responsible for reviewing the employment of 10,800 workers employed during the previous administration, delivered its report to the State Government.
It can be recalled that the committee was inaugurated on August 16, 2023, with responsibilty to evaluate the recruitment process under the administration of Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje which the incumbent government identified as marked by blatant violations of civil service regulations and nepotism.
Presenting the report to the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, the chairman of the committee, Dr. Umar Shehu Minjibir, revealed that during the screening, 13,916 workers were discovered to have been recruited, surpassing the original figure of 10,800. Out of this total, 12,566 workers were screened, while the remaining 1,350 did not participate in the exercise.
In a Press Statement signed by Musa Garba, Director of Public Enlightenment of the Commission, explained that Dr. Minjibir emphasized that the committee thoroughly addressed the issue and provided comprehensive recommendations in line with its mandate, expressing optimism that the state government would find the recommendations valuable.
In his response, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Baffa Bichi, expressed gratitude to the committee members for their diligent work and pledged that the state government would carefully consider their findings and act accordingly. He assured that justice would be done in the implemention of the committee’s recommendations.
