Former Governor of Ogun State, South West Nigeria, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has written to the incumbent governor of the Prince Dapo Abiodun, request him to suspend his monthly pension payment.
The request for the stoppage of the monthly payment totalling about N676,000, Daniel explained is in “compliance with my conscience, moral principle and ethical code against double emoluments that a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who hitherto was a former governor shall not be entitled to the payment of pension and allowances from such State.
Senator Daniel also added that “it is also pertinent to have it on record that since I left office in 2011, I have not benefited from any welfare package – be it medical, furniture, transportation, etc”
