President Tinubu favoured candidate, Abbass emerges speaker of House of Reps with 353 votes
The member representing Zaria federal constituency, Tajudeen Abbass, emerged as the Speaker of the House of Representatives in open votes, in which members announce the candidate in a voice voting for their candidates
Abass defeated fellow contenders; Ahmed Wase and Sani Jaji, who polled three votes each.
However, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu was nominated as the Deputy Speaker of the House by members of the House of Representatives.
Hon. Kalu is a member of the National House of Assembly, representing Bende Constituency, Abia State
Abbass who scored 353 votes, is the candidate favored by President Bola Tinubu for the position and endorsed by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
