The Arewa United Consultative Forum, AUCF has called for the resignation of the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun for what he called his failure to secure and protect the people within his domain.
The AUCF, in a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday by its National President, Alhaji Shuaibu Dansudu also condemned the activities of Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho who stormed some Fulani settlements in Ogun State early in the week to destroy the abode of Fulanis.
According to the group, “Governor Abiodun remains the Chief Security Officer of the state, but it is disappointing that he could not secure his state, and have to invite someone from Oyo state to come and do the job for him.
“We therefore call on the Governor to resign his position since it appears he is not capable of functioning in that capacity. If he fails to resign, the federal government should withdraw his security apparatus.”
On Igboho, the group described him as a fake activist, since according to them, real and genuine activists don’t take laws into their hands and they don’t attack innocent people. The AUCF admitted that there may be some criminal elements among the Fulanis, just like any other tribes, but it insists that not all Fulanis are criminals, and that some of them are also victims of the criminal herdsmen.
“If Igboho can arrest and even kill the real criminal herdsmen, we won’t complain, we might even invite him to the North to help us fight the criminals and bandits”, the group said, while describing the recent rumblings as antics by some politicians to destroy the unity of the country.
