It was excitement atmosphere throughout the moments of Dr Siju Iluyomade’s ‘Arise Walk For Life’ on Saturday 15th October 2022 in the city of Lagos as prominent Nigerians turned out in large numbers to join the health awareness initiative muted by the Convener of Arise Women, which celebrates its 14th edition this year.
The Walk which was took place simultaneously in different city in clusters, including Lagos, UK, America, Canada Amsterdam, Italy and so many other areas in the diaspora was full of funfair despite the main objective of the organizers, which is to promote preventive approach to our health instead of curative through regular walking as a form of exercise.
The Arise Walk For Life which was preceded by a Charity football match between Super Eagles Legends and a selected side at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, was memorable as the Legends defeated the selected side by 3 goals to 1. Some of the Stars that featured includes Kanu Nwankwo, Samson Siasia, Peter Rufai, Waidi Akanni, Austin Eguaveon, Friday Ekpo, Ann Chiejine among others.
Majority of the Soccer stars the following day after the football match joined Dr Siju and other prominent personalities in the Arise walk for Life amidst pomp and pageantry. The Walk cluster which began at Saint Saviour School, Bourdillon, Ikoyi and later terminated at Muri-Okunola Park in Victoria Island where everyone converged to some music, dance and myriad of entertainment. Pouring encomium on the Convener, former Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, says, “notable Nigerians should support and encourage Dr Siju, she is doing a fantastic work using the platform Arise women to empower the less privileged in the society. She is a woman I adore very well and that is why we are here to support her” Also eulogizing the convener is another legend, Kanu Nwankwo who said she is amazed with the zeal at which Madam Siju is contributing to the society through several programmes. “ She is a real mother, people need to emulate her, if many influential Nigerians are doing this, the country will be better”
Others who praises the Convener includes, First Lady of Ogun State,, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, Otunba Niyi Adewunmi, Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi who all participated in the Walk.
