The Kwara State Social Democratic Party, Gubernatorial candidate Alhaji. Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal has urged Muslims to use the opportunity of the Prophet’s birthday to reflect on hos teachings as it relates to his life of piety, prayer and service to God and humanity.
I’m a statement from his Media Office in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital on Monday, Lawal also enjoined the adherents of the Islamic faith “to rededicate themselves to upholding the injunctions of the Holy Quran in their personal life and in their relationships with others.
According to him, “just like the birth of the Holy Prophet in Mecca ushered in a new dawn for humanity, we should view the occasion of this year’s Maulud Nabiyyi as an opportunity for a new beginning for Kwara and Kwarans in all ramifications.
“Even though we aren’t where we desired individually and collective, we have every cause to celebrate and thank the Almighty God for the opportunity of life and the privilege of survival.”
He added that “hopefully, by this time next year, Kwara will be better positioned, with a pro-masses and purposeful leadership that prioritizes and amplifies the collective yearnings and aspirations of Kwarans.”
He also implored Kwarans “to utilize the symbolism of the day, to strengthen the State and Democracy by always discharging their civic responsibilities with clean conscience, especially as the 2023 general elections are fast approaching.”
