A coalition of civil societies organizations, self determination and public interests groups under the banner of Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) have condemned in strong terms the irresponsible, incitement and condemnable attempts by desperate and failed politicians and subversive elements to politicize the judicial trial of the leader of the proscribed terrorist organization IPOB Nnamdi Kanu which is inhuman and satanic.
According the group through a press release signed by some of it’s leaders, the coalition called on Nigerians to be wary of desperate and disgruntled politicians and subversive elements who have been rejected at the polls at every election cycle in the life of our democracy, but have today mischievously and fraudulently become “freedom fighters” against decency, civility and the rule of law.
The group stated that, “It’s an indisputable fact that Mr. Nnamdi Kanu the leader of the terrorists group IPOB is in court for charges of terrorism and the court has ordered him to open his defence in the interest of fair hearing and justice, after the prosecution closed it’s case, so if these subversive and anti democratic elements are not agents of destabilization, law and order, the most appropriate thing to do, is to submit to the law in it’s entirety rather than this attempt to incite Nigerians and cause a breakdown of law and order which will resisted by Nigerians within the ambit of the law.
The coalition used it’s statement to remind Nigerians that despite the orgy of violence perpetuated in the South East and some other parts of the country by the proscribed terrorist organization IPOB led by Nnamdi Kanu against public and private properties, resulting in the loss of lives of innocent Nigerians and even security agencies personnel, the Nigerian state is subjecting the terrorist group leader to the tenets of civility and the rule of law to answer for the alledged crime of terrorism, of which he is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the courts.
The coalition of civil societies organizations commended the Nigerian government for subjecting the terrorist organization IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu to the tenets of the law through the courts in line with global best practices, just as it admonishes it not to succumb to the campaign of blackmail and calumny to discontinue the trial as it would amount to disservice, injustice and an assault to the memories of innocent Nigerians consisting of civilians and security operatives who have paid the supreme price extrajudicially in the hands of IPOB/ESN terrorist organization.
The coalition called on Nigerians to distance themselves away from any rally or protest which this mischievous and fraudulent one exemplifies because as much as we are in sync with the constitutional rights of Nigerians to protest, “We as a coalition, will not watch and allow the people to be incited and misled by agents of destabilization whose interest and agenda is to endanger national security and law and order”.
The group charged Nigerians to be alert and continue to keep faith with democracy and the rule of law by not allowing themselves to become pawns on the chess board of failed politicians and anti democratic elements who are always on the prowl and whose whole being and essence is to take advantage and politicize everything under the sun for political capital and interest other than our collective good.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Thank you.
Yours Sincerely,
E-signed.
